Not every mobile gamer wants the same thing from a smartphone.

Some are after a bigger screen for watching videos, multitasking, and long gaming sessions. Others care more about fast response times, smoother controls, and performance that can keep up during competitive matches.

Recognizing those different priorities, nubia has expanded its Neo 5 Series in the Philippines with two new devices: the nubia Neo 5 Max and the nubia Neo 5 GT Special Edition.

The smartphones headline the brand’s #NEOVerseMaxOut campaign, which runs from August 1 to 8, and are designed to bring gaming-focused features to a wider audience without venturing into premium flagship territory.

Beyond the hardware itself, nubia is also positioning the launch as part of a broader lifestyle ecosystem that combines gaming, entertainment, accessories, and community experiences.

A bigger screen for work and play

For users who spend as much time streaming videos and browsing social media as they do gaming, the nubia Neo 5 Max puts its emphasis on display size and battery life.

Its 7.5-inch screen gives users more room for games, movies, and multitasking, while the large 7,100mAh dual-cell battery is designed to last through extended gaming sessions and full days of everyday use.

To help maintain performance under heavier workloads, the phone incorporates a large cooling system together with nubia’s Neo Triggers 5.0, which provides faster touch response during gameplay.

The Neo 5 Max is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 processor and also comes with Dolby Atmos dual speakers, AI Copilot Demi 2.0, RGB lighting, and IP64-rated dust and splash resistance.

It will be available in Titanium Gold with a suggested retail price of ₱19,999.

The nubia Neo 5 GT Special Edition, meanwhile, targets players who prioritize speed and responsiveness.

One of its standout features is nubia’s AquaCore Cooling System, which combines liquid cooling, an internal cooling fan, and a large heat dissipation area to help manage temperatures during demanding games.

The phone also introduces upgraded Neo Triggers 5.0 with ultra-low touch latency, making controls feel quicker and more responsive during fast-paced gameplay.

Its 6.8-inch AMOLED display offers a 144Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution, while SGS Eye Care certification aims to make extended gaming sessions more comfortable.

Powering the device is a MediaTek D7400 processor paired with nubia’s NeoTurbo Engine and up to 24GB of Dynamic RAM for smoother multitasking.

Other features include an 80W fast-charging system, bypass charging for gaming while plugged in, a 50MP AI dual-camera setup, AI productivity tools, IP64 protection, and five years of software support.

The Neo 5 GT Special Edition will be offered in Glacial Silver for ₱26,999.

More than smartphones

Rather than simply introducing two new devices, nubia is using the launch to expand what it calls the NEOVERSE ecosystem.

The company has been adding lifestyle partnerships that extend beyond gaming hardware, including collaborations in entertainment and retail aimed at building a broader community around the brand.

As part of the launch promotion, customers who purchase either the Neo 5 Max or Neo 5 GT Special Edition from August 1 to 8, while supplies last, will receive a complimentary three-month VIU Premium subscription, giving them access to Asian dramas, movies, variety shows, and original content.

Buyers can also take advantage of a Buy 1, Get Up to 5 Freebies promotion during the campaign period.

Looking ahead, nubia says it plans to further grow the NEOVERSE through upcoming collaborations, including partnerships with Cotti Coffee and the nubia Social Run, initiatives intended to bring together gaming, lifestyle, and community activities beyond the smartphone itself.

For consumers, the expanded Neo 5 Series offers two different approaches to mobile gaming. One leans toward entertainment and all-day usability, while the other focuses on performance and competitive play. Instead of asking gamers to adapt to a single device, nubia is giving them more options based on how they actually use their phones.
