A new landmark is beginning to take shape in Biñan, Laguna. As Greenfield Development Corporation (GDC) marks its 65th anniversary, the company has broken ground on the Biñan Spine Road — a one-kilometer, park-lined boulevard envisioned as the main gateway to Greenfield City Biñan.
More than a road connecting one point to another, the boulevard is designed as a landscaped corridor linking parks, recreational spaces, businesses, and future residential neighborhoods. Once completed, it will serve as the centerpiece of Greenfield’s vision for a community where mobility and public spaces go hand in hand.
The project is part of the continuing development of Greenfield City Biñan, a mixed-use township that will be accessible via the South Luzon Expressway’s Greenfield-Unilab (Mamplasan) Exit and the southern terminus of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX).

For Greenfield, the Spine Road is intended to set the tone for the township.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Greenfield President Atty. Duane A.X. Santos said the company wanted the road to become a destination in itself rather than simply the fastest route from one point to another.

“Every great city has a defining boulevard. This gateway road would make everyone slow down and appreciate their surroundings,” Atty. Santos said. “It’s not all about the destination, it’s really about the whole journey.”
The boulevard will wind through six interconnected public parks, creating a continuous stretch of open space that encourages walking, cycling, and outdoor activities.
It will also connect to a secondary loop road lined with cafés, retail spaces, pocket parks, tennis and pickleball courts, wellness facilities, and community gathering areas.
Together, these spaces are intended to encourage people to spend time outdoors rather than simply pass through the township.

Greenfield says the road is only one part of a broader vision for Greenfield City Biñan, where residential neighborhoods, offices, schools, and commercial establishments are connected through parks and shared public spaces.
Atty. Santos said the project represents a long-term investment in the community rather than simply another infrastructure project.
“This new city is primarily built for the wellbeing of everyone in the whole area. It will serve as the artery for the whole community, where all of the residences, offices, and institutions will be connected to,” Atty. Santos added. “It’s the gateway for investments, jobs, innovation, and communities. We’re building a community where people can live well, live better, and ultimately live longer.”
When completed, the Biñan Spine Road will become the primary entrance to Greenfield City Biñan, connecting different parts of the township while creating new spaces where residents and visitors can walk, dine, play sports, or simply enjoy the outdoors. It’s an approach that reflects a growing trend in township planning — treating streets not only as transport corridors, but as places where community life can unfold.
