What happens when a technology showcase moves beyond gadgets and products and starts looking at the everyday challenges of a country?

For Taiwan Expo 2026, the answer is a sprawling showcase of solutions aimed at some of the Philippines’ most pressing needs — from more resilient power systems and smarter farms to healthcare, cybersecurity and more sustainable consumer products.

Returning to the SMX Convention Center Manila from September 17 to 19, the expo will bring together more than 125 Taiwanese exhibitors across technology, sustainability, agriculture, healthcare and lifestyle.

The event follows a strong showing in 2025, when Taiwan Expo generated an estimated US$53.4 million in business opportunities and attracted more than 10,000 buyers from the Philippines.

TAITRA representatives mark the official opening of Taiwan Expo 2025 in the Philippines, celebrating stronger ties and opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

Organized by the Taiwan International Trade Administration (TITA) under Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and implemented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), this year’s expo is positioned as more than a marketplace. It is designed to connect Taiwanese companies with Philippine businesses looking for technologies that can be adapted to local conditions.

“Fifty-three million dollars in business opportunities showed us how much appetite there is in this market,” said James C. F. Huang, chairman of TAITRA.

“This year we want to build on that through joint ventures, licensing, and local assembly, so Taiwanese and Philippine companies are building together rather than simply trading,” Huang added. “Our measure of success is how many of these connections are still producing value for both sides five years from now.”

From energy resilience to greener cities

One of the most timely sections of the expo is the Green & Innovation Showcase, where energy technology takes center stage.

With power costs and grid reliability continuing to shape business and community decisions in the Philippines, Taiwanese companies will showcase battery energy storage systems and hydrogen microgrids designed for island and off-grid applications.

For communities operating beyond the reach of the country’s three major grids, these technologies could offer another way to approach electrification and energy resilience.

The showcase also looks at sustainability closer to home.

Green building insulation designed to reduce cooling requirements will be presented alongside AI-powered waste-sorting systems for local governments dealing with growing waste volumes. Even a familiar everyday item gets a sustainability makeover, with exhibitors showcasing commercially produced fully biodegradable plant-based drinking straws.

The technologies reflect a broader push toward solutions that can help businesses and communities lower resource consumption while improving resilience.

Giving Philippine agriculture a technology boost

Technology also takes to the fields at the Agritech & Food Pavilion, where the focus is on one of the Philippines’ most persistent challenges: producing more with limited labor and resources.

Taiwanese exhibitors will showcase autonomous mobile robots designed to reduce reliance on manual field work, as well as smart environmental-control systems for livestock operations.

For poultry and swine producers, where environmental conditions can directly affect animal health and production costs, these systems are designed to help manage conditions more precisely.

The pavilion will also have a distinctly sensory side, with Phalaenopsis orchids, high-mountain teas and specialty Taiwanese food products looking for Philippine distribution partners.

It is where technology meets the more familiar pleasures of food, agriculture and lifestyle — a combination that gives the trade expo a distinctly consumer-facing dimension.

Where AI meets the factory floor

If the Agritech & Food Pavilion represents technology working on the ground, the Intelligent Technology Pavilion looks at what happens behind the scenes.

The section will feature technologies spanning Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), edge computing and cybersecurity, reflecting how connected systems are increasingly becoming part of manufacturing, logistics and business operations.

Among the exhibits are collaborative robots for manufacturing, forklift safety systems for warehouses and logistics operators, and zero-trust cybersecurity solutions.

For Philippine businesses facing increasingly sophisticated cyber threats while navigating data privacy requirements, cybersecurity is no longer simply an IT concern. It is becoming part of how businesses protect operations, customers and their reputations.

Healthcare gets a biotech touch

The Beauty & Wellness Pavilion brings together healthcare, biotechnology and consumer products.

Exhibitors will showcase functional bio-electro devices, biotech skincare and anti-counterfeiting technologies for pharmaceutical and cosmetic packaging, alongside sterile surgical supplies and medical dressings intended for hospital procurement.

The mix reflects the growing overlap between healthcare innovation and consumer wellness, where advances in biotechnology are increasingly finding their way into both clinical and everyday applications.

A little technology for everyday life

The final stop is perhaps the most immediately relatable: the Premium Lifestyle Pavilion.

Here, visitors can expect a collection of products ranging from recycled-fabric bags and electric-vehicle safety blankets to precision bathroom components, micrometer towels and smart wine aerators.

There will also be memory storage devices and other consumer products seeking Philippine distributor and retail partners.

Delegates gather at Taiwan Expo 2025’s Healthcare Pavilion, highlighting Taiwan’s growing expertise in healthcare innovation and collaboration.

Beyond a three-day trade show

Taiwan and the Philippines have been steadily deepening their commercial ties. Bilateral goods trade reached US$6.71 billion in 2024, while trade increased by 8.5% during the first seven months of 2025, moving Taiwan from the Philippines’ 11th-largest trading partner to 10th.

Against that backdrop, Taiwan Expo 2026 arrives as a meeting point for companies exploring not just products, but longer-term partnerships.

For Philippine businesses, that could mean access to technologies designed around challenges that feel increasingly familiar: keeping the lights on, making farms more productive, protecting digital infrastructure, improving healthcare and finding more sustainable ways to live and work.

And for Taiwan’s exhibitors, the opportunity is equally straightforward — finding Philippine partners who can help turn those technologies into solutions that work beyond the exhibition floor.

Taiwan Expo Philippines 2026 will be held at the SMX Convention Center Manila from September 17 to 19, 2026.
