On highways that cut through cities and provinces alike, Filipino truck drivers and mechanics keep the country moving — often unseen, rarely celebrated. This year, Shell Pilipinas Corporation, through its lubricants brand Shell Rimula, set out to change that.
Through its nationwide “Bida Ang Biyahe Ko!” campaign, Shell Rimula spent much of 2025 on the road, meeting drivers and mechanics where they work and live — from transport hubs in Davao and Cebu to stops in La Union, Caloocan, and Laguna.
The program, which ran through October, brought together an estimated 250 participants, shining a spotlight on the people who quietly power the country’s transport and logistics backbone.
Shell: Keeping pace with a faster Philippines

The campaign unfolded against a rapidly changing logistics landscape.
As e-commerce continues to reshape how goods move across the Philippines, the demand for light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and skilled drivers has grown. Tighter delivery schedules, heavier loads, and longer hours have become the norm — placing more pressure on both vehicles and the people behind the wheel.
“Bida Ang Biyahe Ko!” was designed as both a celebration and a response to these realities. At each stop, drivers and mechanics took part in skills challenges, technical learning sessions, and road safety discussions — practical engagements aimed at helping them adapt to the demands of modern transport work.
Beyond driving techniques, the program emphasized physical and mental road readiness, from understanding road signage to proper vehicle maintenance — small but critical practices that can prevent accidents and extend vehicle life. Those who completed the program’s first two stages also earned TESDA National Certificate (NC) I qualifications, offering participants formal recognition and added professional value.
Tools, training, and time on the road

Supporting these efforts, Shell Rimula highlighted its Light Duty Oils (LD5) during the campaign. Designed for modern LCV engines, the product is formulated to protect against wear, oil oxidation, and deposit build-up — challenges common in stop-and-go traffic and variable load conditions typical of urban and provincial routes.
For drivers, this translated into something more tangible than technical specifications: fewer worries on long days, smoother trips, and engines they could rely on.
“Facilitating PMS seminars with Shell Rimula Bida Ang Biyahe Ko gives truck drivers a reminder that proper knowledge and process of periodic maintenance is vital to keeping them safe every day of their livelihood,” said Bryan M. Landicho, a TESDA assessor who supported the sessions.
Road safety was another central theme. Ariel Del Rosario, an LTO-accredited lecturer and road safety instructor, emphasized that safety extends beyond individual drivers. “Road safety is everyone’s responsibility,” he said, echoing the campaign’s broader message of shared accountability on Philippine roads.
Care that goes beyond the engine

promote driver well-being
True to Pilipinas Shell’s purpose of powering progress through care, the program also addressed driver well-being — an often-overlooked aspect of life on the road. Free eye checkups and prescription glasses were provided during select stops, addressing visual strain and impaired eyesight, common risks for long-haul drivers.
The gesture underscored a simple but powerful idea: supporting drivers means looking after the person, not just the vehicle.
Moving forward together

“Bida Ang Biyahe Ko!” was made possible through partnerships with Bike Night Asia, TESDA, and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) — a collaboration that Shell says reflects its long-term commitment to the transport sector.
“Shell takes great pride in supporting the country’s transport community, from drivers and mechanics to the partners who keep our roads moving,” said Meng Manapul Peret, Shell Rimula Brand Manager. “Through programs like Bida Ang Biyahe Ko!, we remain committed to promoting driver well-being and empowering Filipino motorists through continuous skills development, recognition, and reliable product solutions.”
With plans to expand the program to Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, and Pampanga in 2026, Shell Rimula’s journey with the country’s road heroes is far from over.
